Course Description
*** Please note IMPORTANT CHANGE TO PAYMENT INFORMATION at the bottom of this page - please book directly via tutor *** The kings of Sparta had two roles, most famously to lead Sparta to war (the other was religion, which we don’t hear so much about!). Nowhere else in Greece had a king in the classical period, and in Sparta there were always two of them (Sparta always liked to do things differently). We’ll be meeting a few kings who stood out for something exceptional: such as being insane, being turned on by his fellow Spartans, being accused of something atrocious, or winning a significant victory in battle. We’ll look at significant events from the lives of Cleomenes, Demaratus, Pleistarchus, Pleistoanax, Archidamus and Agis. This course is suitable for anyone with an interest in the subject, and supports the A-Level Ancient History depth study, The Politics and Society of Sparta. *** IMPORTANT PAYMENT INFORMATION *** The cost for the course is £66. Cancellation Policy
All our classes require a minimum number of Thinkers to run. As soon as enough Thinkers sign up you will receive an e-mail from the Scholar running your class with a link to your virtual classroom. If we cannot gather enough thinkers to run a class we will, sadly, have to cancel and/or reschedule. If this is the case, we will e-mail 24 hours before your class is scheduled to start to let you know. To help ensure that your class does take place, please invite others to join you. We find that word of mouth is the best way to let new families know about Thinkers Meet Up. Thank you!
