Course Description
KS3 Biology: The Secret Life of Plants Plants are far more remarkable than they look. This course takes students beneath the surface, quite literally! to discover how plants are built, how they feed themselves, how they 'breathe', and how they reproduce. Rooted in the KS3 national curriculum, every lesson connects scientific knowledge to the living world around us. What Thinkers will explore: 🌱 Week 1 – Reproduction - How do plants make more of themselves? Thinkers uncover the science behind seeds, spores, and everything in between. 💧 Week 2 – Transport - How does water travel from roots to leaves? Let's follow the journey through a plant's internal systems. ☀️ Week 3 – Photosynthesis - How do plants turn sunlight into food? Thinkers will learn about one of nature's most important processes. 🌍 Week 4 – Adaptation - How do plants survive in deserts, rainforests, and everywhere else? We will explore the remarkable ways plants have evolved to thrive. Each week combines engaging video lectures, guided discussions, and fun quizzes to consolidate learning. Students will also get hands-on as we will try to find and observe real plant specimens to bring the science to life. Through this course Thinkers will build scientific reasoning, problem-solving, critical thinking, and the confidence to ask great questions, skills that serve them well beyond the biology classroom.
Cancellation Policy
All our classes require a minimum number of Thinkers to run. As soon as enough Thinkers sign up you will receive an e-mail from the Scholar running your class with a link to your virtual classroom. If we cannot gather enough thinkers to run a class we will, sadly, have to cancel and/or reschedule. If this is the case, we will e-mail 24 hours before your class is scheduled to start to let you know. To help ensure that your class does take place, please invite others to join you. We find that word of mouth is the best way to let new families know about Thinkers Meet Up. Thank you!
