Service Description

For nearly two thousand years, almost everything of importance in Europe was written in the language of the Romans, and there is almost no area of study that is not enriched by even a passing knowledge of Latin and the culture of those who spoke it. This course introduces Latin in an accessible way, without burying learners in dry grammar. It will covering basic language concepts and vocabulary, and lay the foundation for further study. In addition, we will look at elements of Roman society, family structure, and the extraordinary story of its growth from city-state to empire. This course is ideal for bright Thinkers who have not studied Latin before or who feel the need to strengthen their bases and explore culture, history, literature and art more richly. The course will continue throughout the year and move Thinkers gently through the equivalent of the Cambridge Latin Book I - however, please note we are not using these books so we are more flexible to adapt to Thinkers' interests and needs. Our goal is to help Thinkers fall in love with the language and the culture through fun learning.

Cancellation Policy

We will do our utmost to ensure every booked class takes place. However, we strongly believe in the value of conversation between thinkers. Thus, we will not run a class with less than the minimum number of students. If we do not have a full group 24 hours before the class is set to start we will, sadly, cancel the session, refund all participants, and seek to run the class at a different time. Our full booking and cancellation policy can be found in our Terms and Services.
