Course Description
Latin for Beginners – Unlock a Language That Changed the World This online class was designed with complete beginners in mind, guiding them step by step through the foundations of one of history's most influential languages. They'll start by learning how Latin sounds, its rhythms and pronunciation, before exploring how words are formed and how they change to express meaning. From there, they'll begin to understand how Latin sentences are structured, giving them the tools to read and interpret real texts. By the end, Thinkers will have a solid grounding in Latin phonology, morphology, and syntax, and the confidence to keep going. Along the way they will learn about ancient history, exploring cultures, art, literature and more. Through this course Thinkers will gain: Sharper analytical thinking - Latin grammar trains the mind to spot patterns and think with precision. Richer vocabulary - Latin roots unlock thousands of words across English and other European languages. Deeper reading comprehension - Understanding sentence structure makes Thinkers more attentive readers in any language. Historical perspective - Latin opens a window into multiple civilisations, their laws, and philosophies. A lasting foundation - These skills make learning other languages significantly easier and give Thinkers a critical understanding of parts of history.
Cancellation Policy
All our classes require a minimum number of Thinkers to run. As soon as enough Thinkers sign up you will receive an e-mail from the Scholar running your class with a link to your virtual classroom. If we cannot gather enough thinkers to run a class we will, sadly, have to cancel and/or reschedule. If this is the case, we will e-mail 24 hours before your class is scheduled to start to let you know. To help ensure that your class does take place, please invite others to join you. We find that word of mouth is the best way to let new families know about Thinkers Meet Up. Thank you!
