What is invisible, makes up most of the universe, and still has scientists scratching their heads? Why can we measure the distance to a galaxy millions of light years away? And how does a star live, die, and leave behind the atoms that make up you? Join Astronomer Paul for a five-week adventure through the cosmos, designed for curious Thinkers ages 11-15 who want to go beyond the textbook and explore the big questions of the universe. What You'll Explore Dark Matter: Uncover the mystery of the unseen material shaping our universe. Galaxies and Cosmology: Zoom out to see how galaxies form and how the universe began and grew. The Cosmic Distance Ladder: Discover how astronomers measure the unmeasurable, from nearby stars to distant galaxies. The Life Cycles of Stars: Follow stars from birth to spectacular endings. The Moon: Come back to our nearest neighbor and see it with fresh eyes. What to Expect Every session is packed with fascinating information, and Thinkers are always encouraged to share ideas, ask questions, and join the discussion. Cancellation Policy
All our classes require a minimum number of Thinkers to run. As soon as enough Thinkers sign up you will receive an e-mail from the Scholar running your class with a link to your virtual classroom. If we cannot gather enough thinkers to run a class we will, sadly, have to cancel and/or reschedule. If this is the case, we will e-mail 24 hours before your class is scheduled to start to let you know. To help ensure that your class does take place, please invite others to join you. We find that word of mouth is the best way to let new families know about Thinkers Meet Up. Thank you!
