Service Description

Welcome to IGCSE Chemistry TMU style! In this course we will research and learn about the concepts listed in the IGCSE chemistry specification. The aim of this course is to learn using discovery and research. We will look at some of the longer exam questions in IGCSE chemistry and use our knowledge and skills to research the answer and make sure that our knowledge covers all the parts of the IGCSE specification. Please note the course will be taught through research, experimentation, demonstrations, and discussion. We will aim to make this course as interactive and engaging as possible. This course is great for people preparing for IGCSE exams or just looking to learn more about the nature of matter and wanting to develop their higher order thinking, analysis, research, and communication skills. We will be working from the CAIE IGCSE (9-1) 2023-25 specification.Cambridge IGCSE (9-1) Chemistry 0971 (cambridgeinternational.org) This course, like all our IGCSE courses, will include exam questions and mock exams, but our aim is to do this in a fun, welcoming space. This course will run over 2-years. Doing the course over 2 years will allow greater exploration and interaction. Year 1 will cover the syllabus, Year 2 will consolidate the learning and focus on exam preparation. Thus, you are welcome to join in either year. Exam skills will be emphasised and practiced in the latter part of the course. If your Thinker would like to prepare for the exam in a year, please be in touch as this can be organised, but will require more independent weekly work from your Thinker. Depending on your Thinkers and their knowledge level, taking our year 2 course might suit them better - we guide on a case by case model, so please let us know if you want to discuss options. Alternatively, as the course develops if any Thinkers would like to be move faster toward an exam, we will work with them to help. NB Thinkers Meet Up will provide a course that covers the all the curriculum content and more. We will work to develop critical thinking and inspire and promote independent research. We can advise when we feel students are ready to succeed in an exam - in terms of content knowledge and exam-skill maturity. It is the parents's responsibility, however, to find an exam centre and register their Thinker for the exam. It is Thinkers responsibility to spend at least an hour a week outside the class studying in preparation for exams.

Cancellation Policy

We will do our utmost to ensure every booked class takes place. However, we strongly believe in the value of conversation between thinkers. Thus, we will not run a class with less than the minimum number of students. If we do not have a full group 24 hours before the class is set to start we will, sadly, cancel the session, refund all participants, and seek to run the class at a different time. Our full booking and cancellation policy can be found in our Terms and Services.
