Course Description
KS3/KS4 Biology. Everything that has ever lived is built from cells. From the simplest bacterium to the most complex human organ, the cell is where life begins! This course takes students inside the fundamental unit of life, exploring how cells are built, how they function, and what sets different types of cells apart. In this course we will explore what separates a prokaryote from a eukaryote, a plant cell from an animal cell, and uncover the remarkable processes that are common to all living things - including the molecules, structures, and instructions that keep every organism alive and functioning. Course content includes: - Cells and organisation - How cells come together to form tissues, organs, and whole organisms - Molecules in biology - The essential chemical building blocks that make life possible. - Cell structures and functions - What's inside a cell, what each part does, and why it matters. - Chromosomes, genes, and DNA - The biological instructions that make every living thing what it is. - Cell division - How cells copy themselves, grow, and repair, and why it is fundamental to life itself. Through this course Thinkers will develop scientific reasoning, problem-solving, critical thinking, and the confidence to use precise scientific language - skills that underpin success across every area of science.
Cancellation Policy
All our classes require a minimum number of Thinkers to run. As soon as enough Thinkers sign up you will receive an e-mail from the Scholar running your class with a link to your virtual classroom. If we cannot gather enough thinkers to run a class we will, sadly, have to cancel and/or reschedule. If this is the case, we will e-mail 24 hours before your class is scheduled to start to let you know. To help ensure that your class does take place, please invite others to join you. We find that word of mouth is the best way to let new families know about Thinkers Meet Up. Thank you!
