Course Description
This fantastic one-year course follows the AQA Literature syllabus. It is an exciting mix of modern contemporary and more classic, historical texts. In our small and friendly weekly group, we will explore the classic styles of Shakespeare (Macbeth) and Dickens (A Christmas Carol) as well as the renowned playwright J.B. Priestley (An Inspector Calls). We will bring these texts alive through discussion and exercises and come to underst them in depth by learning about their social and cultural backgrounds. There is also an anthology of poems (new and old) to encounter, and a close study of the literary devices that connect these to the themes of power and conflict. Lots to read and lots to learn! This course is great for any Thinkers with a passion for words or ideas. Thinkers who want to live a 'thousand lives' through books, and Thinkers who want to sharpen their own communication tools. Whether they are sitting the exam or simply want to enjoy literature, this is a wonderful class. (As with all our IGCSE/GCSE classes assignments will be given to Thinkers, and those who complete these will be given feedback)
Cancellation Policy
All our classes require a minimum number of Thinkers to run. As soon as enough Thinkers sign up you will receive an e-mail from the Scholar running your class with a link to your virtual classroom. If we cannot gather enough thinkers to run a class we will, sadly, have to cancel and/or reschedule. If this is the case, we will e-mail 24 hours before your class is scheduled to start to let you know. To help ensure that your class does take place, please invite others to join you. We find that word of mouth is the best way to let new families know about Thinkers Meet Up. Thank you!
