Course Description
*** Please note IMPORTANT CHANGE TO PAYMENT INFORMATION at the bottom of this page - please book directly via tutor *** We’ll be exploring Virgil’s Roman epic the Aeneid: the tale follows the hero Aeneas from the destruction of his native Troy, through an adventure-packed journey meeting monsters, friends and foes, to his arrival in Italy and bitter fight to create a home for the Trojans. We’ll be exploring the characters, themes, structure and plot of the poem, as well as its historical context and impact. We’ll explore particular episodes in more detail to gain a greater understanding of how the characters, themes and plot are developed, and to examine Virgil’s techniques. This course is suitable for anyone with an interest in Classics or Literature in general, and also supports Classical Civilisation GCSE and A-Level components (though it doesn’t teach the syllabus it provides deeper understanding, context and analysis); Myth and Religion and War and War and Warfare; and The World of the Hero. *** IMPORTANT PAYMENT INFORMATION *** The cost for the course is £66. Cancellation Policy
All our classes require a minimum number of Thinkers to run. As soon as enough Thinkers sign up you will receive an e-mail from the Scholar running your class with a link to your virtual classroom. If we cannot gather enough thinkers to run a class we will, sadly, have to cancel and/or reschedule. If this is the case, we will e-mail 24 hours before your class is scheduled to start to let you know. To help ensure that your class does take place, please invite others to join you. We find that word of mouth is the best way to let new families know about Thinkers Meet Up. Thank you!
