Course Description
Introductory video (2min): https://youtu.be/bF32DSFe0Hw Ever wanted to write a screenplay? Or a computer game? Or a novel? Turns out that there's something that is all three, the "visual novel". Games written as a script, told via their text like a novel, with images and a soundtrack like a screenplay, and with decisions and rules to make them into a game. We're going to learn how to write one. Starting from templates to learn the tools, you'll learn all the skills you need to make a visual novel of your own! After the basics of showing characters, setting the scene, and adding a soundtrack we'll dive into the fact that visual novels are also games, adding decisions, logic, and rules to our stories. You'll need to use a device that allows you to log into the website we'll be using (https://visualink.mavnn.eu/) at the same time as joining the video call, and ideally you'll be willing to share your screen during the session as we solve problems and share ideas together. We will be coding... but we will be coding a story, so remember to get your typing fingers warmed up.
Cancellation Policy
We will do our utmost to ensure every booked class takes place. However, we strongly believe in the value of conversation between thinkers. Thus, we will not run a class with less than the minimum number of students. If we do not have a full group 24 hours before the class is set to start we will, sadly, cancel the session, refund all participants, and seek to run the class at a different time. Our full booking and cancellation policy can be found in our Terms and Services.
