The Ideas that Shaped the Greeks (13-18)

Mondays 5pm, Meets 5 times, £55

  • Starts 26 Feb
  • 55 British pounds
  • Zoom class

Service Description

Explore the big ideas that formed the culture of the ancient Greeks, and shaped their history. We will start with exploring the heroic ideals of Homer's Iliad, what this meant to the Greeks, and how it informed their idea of themselves. We will examine other big themes such as the ancient Greeks' ideas of justice, freedom, beauty, civic duty, competition, intellectual curiosity, and more. The course will bring in examples from literature and mythology to discuss in the context of ancient Greek history, and will allow plenty of space for discussion and to explore the themes the students are most interested in.

Cancellation Policy

We will do our utmost to ensure every booked class takes place. However, we strongly believe in the value of conversation between thinkers. Thus, we will not run a class with less than the minimum number of students. If we do not have a full group 24 hours before the class is set to start we will, sadly, cancel the session, refund all participants, and seek to run the class at a different time. Our full booking and cancellation policy can be found in our Terms and Services.
