Service Description
*** Please note IMPORTANT CHANGE TO PAYMENT INFORMATION at the bottom of this page - please book directly via tutor *** This course will look at different aspects of religion in Ancient Greece and Rome, in particular rituals associated with different gods and goddesses, and secret cults. We'll be looking at why some gods and cults were popular with different social groups at different times and in particular places. How was the same god or goddess perceived and worshipped differently across the ancient world? Why did some cults from other parts of the ancient world become so popular among the Greeks and Romans? Which Greek and Roman cults were popular in other parts of the ancient world, and why? We'll look at the mystery cults of Eleusis, Orpheus, Mithras, and more. We'll be assessing archaeological finds, inscriptions, art and literature (particularly history and drama). We will be working out what the spread of cults, and worship of particular gods in different ways, can tell us about the society and culture of the time. *** IMPORTANT PAYMENT INFORMATION *** The cost for the course is £66. Cancellation Policy
All our classes require a minimum number of Thinkers to run. As soon as enough Thinkers sign up you will receive an e-mail from the Scholar running your class with a link to your virtual classroom. If we cannot gather enough thinkers to run a class we will, sadly, have to cancel and/or reschedule. If this is the case, we will e-mail 24 hours before your class is scheduled to start to let you know. To help ensure that your class does take place, please invite others to join you. We find that word of mouth is the best way to let new families know about Thinkers Meet Up. Thank you!
