Sometimes it's surprising - there are many lesser-known heroes and many different stories even of the heroes we think we know well. - We'll be looking at heroisation of mortals, including case studies of hero cults in different parts of the Greek world. - Lesser-known aspects of the stories and worship of Hercules, Achilles, Perseus, and other famous heroes. - Why some hero cults became widespread and popular, who they appealed to, and why. - How hero cults fitted in to the religious world-view of the Greeks and Romans (how heroes were different from deities; how they were worshipped alongside the gods; how this worked on panhellenic, localised, and personal levels). *** IMPORTANT PAYMENT INFORMATION *** The cost for the course is £66. Cancellation Policy

All our classes require a minimum number of Thinkers to run. As soon as enough Thinkers sign up you will receive an e-mail from the Scholar running your class with a link to your virtual classroom. If we cannot gather enough thinkers to run a class we will, sadly, have to cancel and/or reschedule. If this is the case, we will e-mail 24 hours before your class is scheduled to start to let you know. To help ensure that your class does take place, please invite others to join you. We find that word of mouth is the best way to let new families know about Thinkers Meet Up. Thank you!
